
Solar Grant Application
South Hams & West Devon ECO Grant Approval
South Hams and West Devon District Council actively participate in the provision of ECO grant approvals for residents within the South Hams and West Devon districts.
There is a £100 admin fee charged by South Hams or West Devon District Council to approve an application.
The following criteria will allow the Council to approve an applicant for an ECO grant. One of these must apply.
1. Aged 60 or over.
2. Have children under 16 at home or are pregnant.
3. Fuel Poor Households.
Household income is less than £35,000 after paying mortgage/rent and fuel bills and the home’s EPC Rating is D or below . Where there is no EPC we can either produce one or assess the property against the following:
- Homes that require insulation to be installed.
- Homes that require a new ECO boiler.
- Private Rented inc Houses of Multiple Occupation.
- Non Mains gas heated homes (ie electric).
- Flats above commercial properties.
- System built homes.
- Park Homes (regardless of income).
4. Low Income & Vulnerable to the cold.
Households who have health conditions sensitive to the cold/damp will be eligible. These are:
Respiratory (ie asthma, COPD), Cardiovascular disease (ie heart disease), Mental Health (ie Schizophrenia, bipolar), Dementia, Cancer, Limited Mobility, Autoimmune, & Immunodeficiency (ie lupus, MS, diabetes, HIV), Neurobiological (ie Fibromyalgia, ME), Substance misuers, Haemoglobinopathies (ie sickle sell, Thalassaemia) or have severe learning disabilities.
Anyone else who has a health condition that is made worse by the cold.
£999 of the install cost is provided by South Hams District Council and West Devon Borough Council. The conditions of this grant state that the property must be occupied for 5 years or made available for letting for period of 5 year by the grant applicant from the certified date. The grant will be registered as a Local Land Charge against the property. The grant is repayable in full, if the property is sold within 5 year of completion of the works. The Council also demand repayment with interest if the above conditions are breached within 5 year of completion of the works.
